Hermetically Sealed Transformers, also known as Corrugated Transformers, are designed with advanced tank construction using corrugated fins and mild steel to provide efficient cooling. These transformers operate similarly to conventional transformers but feature enhanced heat dissipation due to increased surface area created by corrugated fins.

The corrugated fins are welded as an integral part of the transformer tank, ensuring a robust and leak-proof design. The tank undergoes rigorous over-pressure testing to guarantee reliability and durability in demanding operating conditions.

Unlike conventional transformers, hermetically sealed transformers do not use conservators or silica gel breathers. The insulating oil is completely sealed inside the tank and does not come into contact with atmospheric air, preventing oxidation, moisture ingress, and sludge formation. This results in minimal oil degradation and makes the transformer virtually maintenance-free.
